The Growth of Television

By now, 9 out of every 10 homes had televisions. Entertainment and News became popular because everyone could watch it at home. This had a very big effect on the technology in the U.S. The T.V canged how the way everyone looks at the world. I am so happy that the T.V was invented!

Assassination of Robert Kennedy

RK was assassinated in 1968. He was JFK's brother and many people were very saddened by his death. He was running for president, but he got killed during campaign. He was very supportive to the Civil Rights Movement and believed in MLK.

Assassination of JFK

JFK was assassinated at Dallas, Texas in 1963. He didn't live to see the Niel Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin land. Many people were shocked and very sad. Many people thought his duties wouldn't be carried out by the next president. Lyndon B. Johnson took over office. People didn't thing LBJ would be as great as JFK.

Assassination of MLK

Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 by a white man. It was five years after his famous March on Washington. Many people reacted white violence. MLK was like a next door neighbor helping everyone and fighting for rights. MLK became a symbol of peace. The Civil Rights Movement lost a very important leader.

The Space Race

JFK is president and we entered the Space Race. This competition is between U.S and the Soviet Union. S.U sent the first person to space. The U.S is rushing to catch up! The U.S chose John Glenn to orbit the earth. We also sent the sattelite named Sputnik into space. We finally beat the Soviet Union because Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin eventually got to the moon and were the first ones to walk on it. We won the Space Race!!!

The Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was a war is a war against North Vietnam and South Vietnam. It is when North was communist and South was non-communist. At first, US sent weapons to help South Vietnam fight back. Then, the US started sending troops to help South Vietnam. We had very advanced technology. North Vietnam was tricky to fight. Many of our soilders are dying. The war was also costing the U.S billions of dollars. Some Americans think U.S should not be involved in the war, but some did want to be involved in the war.
